Billy Gives It Up At Aulon
Aulon Operations Manager Billy Pun lets us in on the best kept secret in Shekou. Billy who was trained in the dark arts of F & B at Marco Polo in Hong Kong, has put together what is arguably the best steak deal in Shenzhen. Billy says, “Our 250 gram beef tenderloin steak, comes with vegetables and what many have described as the best potato wedges they have ever tasted. We provide this to our customers for RMB88 which is in keeping with our goal of providing the best quality at the best price.”
Billy’s passion is food and he just loves discussing cuts of meat. Billy goes on to say, “The greatest cut of meat ever is the beef tenderloin! When its cooked right, it has a flavor and texture unmatched by any other steak. Many people debate, which part of the cow the tastiest steaks originate from? If you guessed the chuck, the part of the cow closest to the ear and neck, then you guessed wrong. The correct answer would be the loin, that part of the cow from the spine down to the flank, just before the rump. From the loin we get beef cuts such as the T-bone, Porterhouse, Club Steak, Sirloin Steaks, Top Sirloin, Tenderloin and Tri-tip. These steaks and cuts are tastiest as the muscles in this area aren’t exercised much and the meat there is most tender.”

Is this Billy in the 3rd person? Sounds like bragging to me rather then a critique of the steak and wedges. I have not tried it so I can not be complimentory or objective on whether it really is good or not but without a doubt the best steak I have had in Shekou is at Grissini’s, their thick cut large portion New York Strip steak is truly awesome. The meat is always tender and juicy and the flavor is un-matched in this area.
I really like this deal. So far the best I tried. Not as good as good old Alberta angus, but great for Shenzhen.
Are those wedges really as good as you say Billy?
The wedges are fantastic. I also like how they give you the BBQ sauce and the ketchup in separate little cups – feels like you’re in a 5 star hotel restaurant!
