Corporate Social Responsibility Setting Up Your Strategy & Framework

Following the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) survey conducted in 2009, AustCham Shanghai is proud to launch the first event in a CSR series based on your feedback. Join us on March 18th as we hear from Clinton Dines and Richard Brubaker as they share their experiences on developing a comprehensive CSR Strategy in China and the challenges they faced.

GUEST SPEAKERS

Clinton Dines
Clinton came to China in 1979 on a Post Graduate Program arranged by Griffith University and has been living and working in the Greater China Region ever since, the majority of that time in the People’s Republic of China.

During his career Clinton has occupied senior management positions with the Jardine Matheson Group, the Santa Fe Transport Group and Asia Securities Venture Capital. From 1988 to 2009 he was the senior country executive in China for BHP and, since the merger in 2001, for BHP Billiton, from which role he retired in July 2009.

Throughout his career Clinton has specialised in the business practices relating to the negotiation, establishment and operation of Sino‐Foreign ventures and foreign investments in China, and in the strategic and operational management and development of foreign operated businesses, marketing and commercial activities in China. He was closely involved in one of the earliest Joint Ventures established in China in 1980 and he has subsequently been continuously involved in a wide range of ventures and business initiatives across a variety of industries and regions in China.

Richard Brubaker, Founder of Collective Responsibility
Rich developed his first community enterprise HandsOn Shanghai (now HandsOn China) as a means to promote, develop, and manage volunteerism in China.

Now as Managing Director of Collective Responsibility and as a visiting Professor of Sustainability at the China Europe International Business School, Rich is focused full time on building platforms that promote long term organizational capacity to address the economic, environmental, and social hurdles that are faced.

Rich has a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management, served as Vice Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai for 3 years, and has recently launched Cleaner Greener China to highlight the environmental challenges that China faces and the people, products, and companies who are developing solutions
