Volunteers for the Great Australian Ball XV Committee

Anyone who has ever attended an AustCham Shanghai Great Australian Ball will tell you it is “THE SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR!”

The 15th Great Australian Ball will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010, and we are now calling for creative, resourceful and energetic volunteers to help organise our best ball yet.

The Great Australian Ball is always a fabulous and glamorous night. Each year a new theme sets the tone for the night in terms of costumes, venue decorations, games, auctions, prizes and menu. Past themes include:

Boom and Bust in 2009;
Aussie Horror Picture Show in 2008;
Countdown in 2007;
Circus Oz in 2006;
Heroes & Villains in Space in 2005;
Conquering Olympus in 2004;
Australian Icons in 2003;
Red, Hot & Feisty in 2002;
Moulin Rouge in 2001;
Pricilla, Queen of the Dessert in 2000;

The event is also a highly successful fundraiser. Last year we raised an impressive RMB350,000 for community outreach programs in China.

The Great Australian Ball volunteer positions are hard work but great fun! Committee meetings will commence on Monday 10 May from 6:30pm – 8:30pm and meetings will be held fortnightly until September.

Please register your interest by Thursday 6 May with Amy Xu, Events and Administration Coordinator, via email: amy.xu@austchamshanghai.com and provide a brief statement about the experience you would bring to the GABXV team.

Please note, information about sponsorship opportunities for the Great Australian Ball XV will follow soon.
