Australia – China FTA Address by Alison Burrows
AustCham Shanghai is proud to welcome members to an exclusive breakfast seminar with the Assistant Secretary North Asia Investment and Services Branch, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms Alison Burrows. Ms Burrows will provide an update on progress in the Australia-China FTA following the fifteenth round of negotiations, held in Beijing in late June. Alison will speak specifically on “Services and Investment in the Australia-China FTA Negotiations”.

Alison Burrows is Australia’s lead negotiator for services and investment in the Korea, China and Japan FTA negotiations. She is the deputy chief negotiator for the Korea FTA negotiations.
She has worked on an extensive range of trade issues. Her last overseas posting was Brussels, where she was Deputy Head of Mission. Before that, she was the lead negotiator on agriculture for the Australia – United States Free Trade Agreement negotiations in 2002-2003. Earlier, she worked on the WTO services negotiations; APEC; and bilateral trade relations with the United States and with the European Union.
She joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1984, and has also worked in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Her other overseas postings with DFAT were Manila, Suva and Rome.
