New contracts gives hope to government workers
New regulations are to be adopted by the city human resources and social security bureau, which enables government employees to extend working contracts. Under current regulations, the government cannot renew contracts with employees who served for more than nine years regardless of how well they perform. With the new regulations the government can now sign the employees a maximum of three contracts of three years each.
This regulation will differentiate government workers from public servants. Government workers sign 3 year labor contracts, while public servants enjoy lifelong employment. The old regulations was deemed unfair and discriminatory for government workers. Competition between workers and servants is intense, they do the same work, but government employees are just paid less.
Government employees are paid between 3,500 yuan and 5,500 yuan per month, much less than public servants who earn a monthly salary of around 10,000 yuan.
