Fire hazard forces Shenzhen school to close
Fire hazards in schools prompted the authorities to close Nanyuan Primary School for two weeks.
The school’s classroom buildings were too close to adjacent residential estates thus violating the standard distance required by fire prevention authorities. This made the school to relocate some of it’s 1,200 pupils into two schools. Grade one students were brought to Huafu Primary School, other were sent to Hongji Primary School. Lucky some teachers were able to find new posts in the new schools, while others were not so lucky. Parents also expressed their dismay stating that the school’s closure was very sudden, for some school were given six month notice to prepare before closing while the Nanyuan School was only given two weeks.
