Theme park to remain in Shenzhen
Shenzhen Nanyu Investment Co. announced the acquisition of the CITIC Minsk World. The company spent 140 million yuan to acquire the decommissioned aircraft carrier, which currently occupies 150,00 square meter and houses decommissione tanks and armaments.
The 274-meter Minsk was the world’s fifth-largest aircraft carrier, has more than 2,000 cabins. It was decommissioned by the former Soviet Union, purchased by Shenzhen Minsk Co. and transformed into a military theme park in 2000. The new owner says they have no plans to moved the vessel to a different location, therefore comfirming questions that the purchased vessel will stay in Shenzhen.
The park went on sale for 140 million yuan on the Shenzhen United Assets and Equity Exchange in June, stirring public speculation about its fate.
