More and more Shenzhen students have poor eyesight

More students are having poor eyesights

Around 50 percent of Shenzhen primary school pupils are suffering from poor eyesight. In the 5,000 students questioned in a government sponsored survey saw that 30 percent are diagnosed as short sighted,  9 percent higher than the national average.

More than 85 percent of those with poor sight were slightly shortsighted while just over 1 percent were severely shortsighted, the survey found. Increasing number of short sighted pupils deserves attention from the society, one doctor explained.

70 percent of this students said that they spend more than an hour in front of the computer everyday thus contributing to the poor eyesight. Also the surveys found out that half of the student populatin are not aware on how to protect their eyesight.
