New traffic regulations in Shenzhen to take effect in August
New traffic regulations will take effect this August, this will impose heavier fines to offenders, especially to those who drive with no license plates, fake or duplicated and covered plates, and those fleeing scenes of accidents.
Drivers using duplicated or fake plates will be fined 50,000 yuan and vehicles confiscated. Those driving without plates or temporary plates, and fleeing the scene of accidents be fined 10,000 yuan and licenses suspended. Covered plates will garner a 6,00 yuan fine for the first offense and increase to 10,000 yuan for the second offense.
Offenders shall pay their fines within seven working days after receiving notice will have their fines halved, but this will not apply to drivers who break the rules more than five times in a year. The new regulations allows drivers whose licenses are suspended to apply for community service. One hour of service will deduct one day from the suspension period. Pedestrians who violate traffic rules will be exempted from punishment if they voluntarily accept traffic safety training.
