Magic match Bulls’ offer sheet to retain Redick
J.J. Redick is staying with Orlando Magic. The formidable shooting guard received a $19 million, three-year offer sheet from Chicago Bulls which was, after seven days, matched by Orlando Magic.
Magic had seven days to decide to match the contract because Redick was a restricted free agent. Matching the contract almost doubles Redicks salary from last season and puts Orlando deeper into the luxury tax.
Redick is a former Duke standout and in the 2006 NBA draft, he was the 11th overall pick. Although he quite struggled in his early years with the NBA, he has blossomed into the shooting guard that he is now and has become one of Magic’s most popular players with the fans.
