Liu Xiang, China’s former Olympic  gold medalist who celebrated his 27th birthday last July13 said, his one wish is to regain the 110m hurdles title at the Asian Games. According to the Shanghai Morning Post, Liu said that Guangzhou means a lot to him and the Asian Games is the most important competition for him this year.

Liu was with his coach and friends in Beijing for a birthday party treat with a cake and a night out after training all day.  “I am quite delighted for the gifts and blessings from my fans around the country,” said Liu.

Liu Xiang who lost to his compatriot Shi Dongpeng at the Shanghai Diamond League athletics competition two months ago, has hardly been in top shape since his surgery from an Achilles tendon injury. Last month, Liu went to the United States for rehabilitation training. His track shoes were also enhanced to be less crucial for his injured tendon, which may have an impact on his future training.

Liu won his third straight Gold in the 2009 Asian Athletics Championships in Guangzhou, which is also this year’s venue for the Asian Games, on November 12 to 27.
