Drivers complain of unfair traffic fines
Shenzhen drivers are complaining of unfair fines being imposed by Guangzhou traffic control. For violating rules of driving using odd or even license plates.
Guangzhou imposed the traffic control on Saturday when license plates ending with even numbers were banned from the road but allowed on Sunday. A lot of non Guangzhou drivers were not aware of the new rules were fined 200 yuan and three points deducted from their licenses. Drivers from Shenzhen claimed that the fines should be limited to Guangzhou vehicles because traffic control is in Guangzhou. Drivers also complained that no notices were even put up to warn drivers about the changes in traffic control. A representative of the Guangshen Expressway Management said that they were not informed of any traffic control until last Friday. Then they placed temporary notices on road signs at Xintang toll gate and Bei’erhuan road.
However the Xintang toll gate is in Guangzhou, so drivers have nowhere to park or turn back to Shenzhen so they have no choice they have to continue driving and be fined. Either way it was inconvenient to Shenzhen Drivers. the traffic control is designed for the Asian Games that would be held in Guangzhou in November.
