Dwight Howard wowed fans in Beijing
Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard displayed his mighty slam dunks amid hundreds of fans at the Wukesong Gymnasium in Beijing on July 22, Thursday.
The 24-year-old 2008 NBA Slam dunk Contest winner was dressed in a Superman costume, like he did during the said contest and impressed the fans with his good command of the Chinese language.
After being greeted with deafening cheers from the fans, Howard said “Wo ai nimen,” which means “I love you all” in English.
He followed it up with, “Huo hua de, huo hua de,” pronouncing his name in Chinese.
“China is like my second home and I have great fun every time I am here,” Howard said.
Three special fans were lucky to be with Howard on stage. Two students from the Beijing No. 4 High School for the Deaf and Zhu Yanmiao, a 6-foot-tall basketball lover who is also known for his impressive dunks in China.
“Everybody can be Superman as long as you believe in yourself,” Howard said after watching Zhu showcase his slam-dunk skills.
Howard will proceed to Chengdu and Shenyang to complete his four-day tour of China organized by his sponsor, Adidas.
