Hang Li Po Malaysian Restaurant Review

Well I went to this place about 3 years ago, and it was, as names, fine cuisine. But things change very fast in Shenzhen.

Last time i was there, it was very nice traditional Malay food that was the part of malaysia that has nice curries and food somewhat similar to Thai cuisine. It is very different now. ( I know repeating myself AGAIN)

My GF and i decided we would go as we both had a bit of a Thai style food craving, so we decided to go outside of the square and hit up the Malay Han Li Po. We arrived and immediately I noticed that the decor was NOT by any means what i remember of the original “Fine Cuisine” venue I had previously attended. The decor was very bland and very not Fine Dining. Tables clothes did not match anything, the tables too high for the sofas etc etc etc…

So we sat down and looked at the menu, My immediate reaction, as was my GF, “This isn’t Malaysian Fine Cuisine, this is chinese with curry puffs!!”

But, we pushed on, i ordered a voke as I always do when arriving on a hot day.

We looked through the menu and decided on the Crabs balls, Spring rolls, Pancake with Curry and Fried Whole crab with noodles (The only REAL Malaysianish dishes on the menu)

So we call the waitress over, 2 arrive, 1 with coke in hand and one with pen and paper in hand. The coke girl starts to ask me how i want my coke cook, what sides i would like etc(you get the idea I am sure). In between my cocking directions, I point at what we want. and here was the situation

Crab Balls: sorry we are sold out

Spring Rolls: sorry we are sold out

Bread with Curry: sure no problem

Crab and noodles: sorry we are sold out, but i can recommend the Hainan chick to you!!

So at this point we both decided we are leaving, so i ask for the bill for my 1 coke, when they come back they have added on the tea charge, of which the mentioned tea had not reached the table yet, so i gave her 10rmb, bill was 12rmb, 8rmb for coke and 4 for tea, and I said i am not paying the tea. so she start to explain the laws of physics and how that justifies them charging me tea, i said we have not even eaten send the manager.

So after waiting for 10 minutes, to prove my point she walks over and throws the 2rmb change to me!

SO…..I will NEVER be going to this place AGAIN.

So you know where to NOT go for malay “cuisine” the address is below.
