Even if the city is going to expect reduced rainfall and hot weather, heavy downpours and floods was still able to kill one person who was swept away by a raging river , another person went missing.

The city recorded rainfall of 75 millimeters, with the heaviest rainfall in Yougan Bay recorded at 226 millimeters. It rained for three hours in Futian and Longgang districts bringing rainfall to that area to 100 millimeters, thus engulfing ninety areas in the city in deep flood. Landslides were also reported and Shenzhen Metro services was stop for a while because of electrical and technical problems brought by heavy floods.

The city observatory reported that this is the heaviest rainfall Shenzhen had this year adding at least 20 million cubic meters of water in the city reservoirs.
