Cultural industry surpassed GDP growth

With an added value amounting to almost 840 billion yuan, the cultural industry already have surpassed GDP growth since 2004.

Although the cultural industry is in its early stage, its growth was significant during the recession, value of publishing increased by 20 percent by incorporating areas such as the internet, mobile phones, online gaming and animation. With support from the government the cultural industry is a potential market of Hong Kong investors. With more than 100 cultural projects promoted and seeking investment opportunities, mostly coming from Guangdong and Sichuan provinces. China International Cultural Industry Fair introduced annual cultural events to Hong Kong investors. Having successful cooperation between industry and Hong Kong would help develop the market and introduce it on an international scale.
