City to implement new gas standard

In an effort to reduce vehicle emissions and improve air quality ahead of the 2011 Summer Universiade, Shenzhen municipal government had an agreement with oil manufacturers Sinopec, CNPC, and CNOOC to introduce a new national emission standard by the month of October.

With the approval of the introduction of the National standard gasoline, the new fuel will be delivered and supplied to all gas stations in Shenzhen. The gas station are given one month to replace their old fuel with the new standard gasoline. Gas stations that didn’t change their stock will be fined by the city government.
