Countdown to 2010 Asian games officially started
Guangzhou will be the second Chinese city to host the Asian Games after Beijing, which staged the Games in 1990. A member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee officially announced the opening of the televised 100-day Countdown Ceremony.
An evening gala was held to start the countdown to the 2010 Asian Games. The evening gala entitled “Dreaming about This Moment” featured four chapters: “The City of Flower in the New Millennium”, “The New Guangzhou”, “The Asian Games are Coming”, and “Singing under the Blue Sky”. The gala showed 2,000 strong chorus that performed songs to celebrate the one hundred days countdown to the games. The chorus had member from all walks of life, this includes government officials, students, workers, and other famous Chinese celebrities.
The Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) took this chance to cordially invite friends from around Asia and around the world to Guangzhou to witness the Games live. The 2010 Asian Games starts Nov. 12.
