Tunnel to relieve traffic congestion

In order to relive traffic congestion at Meilin Checkpoint, a tunnel about 4 kilometers long will be constructed this will include a underground tunnel and intersection.

The proposed tunnel will connect Futian and Longhua, and when construction is finished drivers will reach Shenzhen North Railway that will open this year a lot faster. Congestion started near the checkpoint and gets worse forcing traffic jams for hours. The city plans to provide 69 new bus routes by the end of this year, with 64 outside the former special economic zone. The buses will serve routes connecting downtown Shenzhen with Longgang and Bao’an districts, both routes are incorporated into the special economic zone. Unfortunately these routes have been dubbed as the most crowded by commuters and drivers.
