Traffic Police noticed a drop in offenses
After the introduction of new traffic rules last week, a decrease of almost 40 percent in traffic offenses was noticed by the traffic police bureau.
Police detected 33,688 vehicle offenses a 45 percent drop from last week. Speeding offenses dropped 98 percent and police caught 42 overloaded dump trucks and one driver was fined 35,000 yuan fine to set an example to the drivers, truck owners and drivers employers. This two offenses are to of the major causes of traffic and road casualties.
Police will soon target illegal parking, and will be imposing hefty fines on drivers caught, but those caught in lesser traffic ares will only be issued a warning and be asked to moved their car. The traffic police bureau will open 30 counters to deal with fines and penalties, with two already open while the remaining 20 will be open before the end of August.
