Environmental plans to be reviewed by government officials
Sixteen candidates consisting of chief district leaders and city government heads will have their environmental protection plans that have policies and work with direct impact on environmental protection evaluated.
Each official will submit a written report and will deliver a 20 minute presentation on success and failures of environmental protection and its possible solutions. After their presentation they will be answering questions from a 35 member panel, consisting of lawmakers, political advisers and environmental protection expert.
Shenzhen began evaluating officials on their environmental protection performance and the city plans to introduce four new indices. This indices will reflect official’s performance in protecting environmental resources. Other existing indices includes the following, air quality, river pollution control,emission reduction, and public satisfaction with law enforcement.
