Shenzhen to be a green city in 10 years
A ten year plan by the State Council is on the table aimed to make Shenzhen a modern green city with robust economy and harmonious society. According to the plans Shenzhen will enhance cooperation with Hong Kong to further develop its six areas mainly, transportation, customs, ecology, construction, finance and information technology.
The plan also states the Shenzhen’s residents with permanent residence permit, will not go over the 11 million mark by 2020. And urban land construction will limit itself to 890 square meters. The city will also explore underground space for development, step up construction of airports, ports and railways. Shenzhen became the first special economic zone in 1980 and will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this coming Thursday.
