Shanghai Expo with SACS
In Shanghai’s multicultural flair we find the perfect blend of the modern and the traditional, the western and the oriental. New skyscrapers and old Shikumen lanes together draw the skyline of Shanghai.
SACS’ Shanghai adventure is scheduled on September 11 & 12. Here is the outline of activities that SACS prepared for interested participants:
After an early morning flight from Shenzhen, you will be taken to a lovely Chinese lunch near your hotel, before heading to the Shanghai Expo. So far, over 44 million people have visited the Expo. The opening hours from 9:00 in the morning until midnight, guarantee plenty of time to look around the pavilions. The SACS chartered bus will drop you off around 2 p.m. and will start to shuttle any tired visitors back to the hotel at 6 p.m., again at 8 p.m. and the last trip will be around 10 p.m. Dinner is enjoyed at your own leisure in one of the pavilions. You will be staying in a 3 or 4 star hotel in the French Concession.
On Sunday morning, you will be taken for a walk along the Lilong neighborhoods of the French Concession. Built in the first half of the twentieth century, these houses were a mixture of English terraced houses and the traditional Chinese house with a courtyard. Though the two to three-floor houses were originally built for a single family, by the time the Communists took power in 1949, the popuation density of the city was such that two to three families were assigned to each house, which is the situation to this day.
After having worked up the appetite, a French gourmet experience is awaiting you. In the afternoon, there will be some time to indulge in retail therapy at your own leisure. The chartered bus will take you to either Nanjing Lu, where all the boutiques are waiting for you or to close by Dong Tai Lu with a great Chinese Antiques market. You will arrive back in Shenzhen on Sunday evening.
The tour includes 1 night hotel accommodation based on twin share, meals (1 Breakfast, 2 Lunch), English speaking tour guide, Entrance ticket for Saturday afternoon and evening to the Expo, walking tour with an expert in the French Concession and transfers by private motor coach.
Tour price for SACS Member is RMB 1670 per person and RMB 177o for non-member. Single supplement, trip rooms and child prices are available upon request. The tour prices do not include the flight in economy class Shenzhen-Shanghai-Shenzhen, which will add approximately RMB 1490 to the tour cost. Exact price to be confirmed at the time of booking.
