Life made easier
Expats life in Shenzhen is easier, since they can purchases more foreign food at a reasonable price. Some expats had trouble buying food they wanted because it was to expensive or not in the market shelves, and taste of foreign dishes in restaurants was awful.
Now international supermarket chains and convenience stores are located throughout the city, they can readily purchase anything their hearts desire. An expat remembers that he used to live in Shekou and was far from Central Shenzhen so he had to purchase a limited selection of foreign foods at an expensive prices. He recalled that one box of breakfast cereal costs 50 yuan and cheese costs around 60 yuan. Expats usually had to travel to Hong Kong just to buy the food they need.
Now with rapid development happening in Shekou, the city now has shops that can cater to the foreign community with supermarkets like Parknshop, Wal-Mart is just right around the corner.
