Expats life in Shenzhen is easier, since  they can purchases more foreign food at a reasonable price. Some expats had trouble buying food they wanted because it was to expensive or not in the market shelves, and taste of foreign dishes in restaurants was awful.

Now international supermarket chains and convenience stores are located throughout the city, they can readily purchase anything their hearts desire. An expat remembers that he used to live in Shekou and was far from Central Shenzhen so he had to purchase a limited selection of foreign foods at an expensive prices. He recalled that one box of breakfast cereal costs 50 yuan and cheese costs around 60 yuan. Expats usually had to travel to Hong Kong just to buy the food they need.

Now with rapid development happening in Shekou, the city now has shops that can cater to the foreign community with supermarkets like Parknshop, Wal-Mart is just right around the corner.

  1. This is true to some degree. However it is still very difficult to consistently get the products we require. more often than not we have to go to Metro or Ole, one is not easy to get to and the other is very premium.

Metro is Located in Luohu and Nanshan. The Chinese name is Mai De long ( a little different to mcDonalds) I think, Can someone confirm?

Ole is located in Mixc Shopping Mall in Luohu which is at Da Ju Yuan Metro station. Also at YiTian Plaza in Nanshan at Windows of the world metro station.
