New labor law drafted for workers benefits
A new labor law regulation was drafted to smooth out employee and employer relations in the special economic zone (SEZ) after a number of work related deaths happened. The draft was scheduled to be reviewed at a meeting of Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress.
The regulation stipulates group salary negotiations must be conducted at least once a year. the law will establish a mechanism for negotiating pays rises to lessen labor disputes. Although Shenzhen maintain double digit growth for years now, workers salaries only changed a little, and some workers even never had a pay raise in several years.
An institutional guarantee is needed to secure interests of workers so the goal of common prosperity can be realized.
