Multi-billion projects for Shenzhen will be pushed to boost its economy. Over 387.9 billion yuan (US$ 57 billion) is allotted for the projects expected to take progress over three years.

There are 242 projects designed including highways, housing, hospitals and public health facilities. A number of 10 Metro projects bite the biggest share of the budget, reaching a total coast of 69 billion yuan.

A passage between Shenzhen and Zhongshan will be one of the exemplary parts of the project. Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta (2008-2020) will make this possible, noted as one of the major projects seen in the Outline Plan. The passage will facilitate transport between eastern and western Guangdong.

An underwater tunnel to link Zhongshan and Shenzhen is taken into consideration as experts suggested.

Another major project is the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Eastern link up passage, which will run from Liantang Checkpoint in eastern Shenzhen to Heung Yuen Wai in northern Hong Kong.

Initiation of engineering works for the project will be in 2013 to ensure the on scheduled checkpoints operation in 2018.

Guangzhou-Shenzhen Yanjiang Expressway is also a part of the plan to boost Shenzhen economy reaching over 38 kilometers long. The earliest phase of the expressway will be completed by October 2012.
