Shenzhen’s 30th anniversary fireworks display tonight
A fireworks display is scheduled for tonight from 8:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at southern square of Citizen’s center in Futian. This is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. An official meeting will follow after the fireworks display and will be broadcast live by the Metropolitan Channel.
100,000 fireworks will be set off, and estimated to reach a height of 250 meters, the fireworks are supplied by a factory in Liuyang in Hunan Province. The factory is known for its fireworks since its had been gracing almost 400 events in China and abroad, including the opening and closing of the Beijing Olympic games, the 2010 Shanghai Expo and APEC summit in Shanghai.
A computer program will set off the fireworks display tonight and will be environmentally friendly, leaving no residues ot odor. Police will also cordon off a 200 meter area as an isolated firing zone as a safety precaution. Medical staff and firemen will be on standby as well as 200 buses in case of emergencies or if evacuation is needed.
Spectators can view the fireworks in areas north of the center, both sides of Shennan Thoroughfare which is near the ignition area, northern square of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. Residents in central Futian can watch the display in their respective communities or offices.
