Macau Beach Rugby 2010
This is Alex, for those that don’t know me, I used to play for Shekou and Shenzhen until early 2009.
I follow closely whatever is happening and I see a lot of motivation emails for the famous Shenzhen 10s, that is great. But very few answers on the Beach rugby in Macau this week end.
I don’t know any better practice method in rugby than beach rugby. It’s where you learn close quarter combat skills, the rules around the ruck, to listen to the ref, and be always ready for the next action. The pitch is small, players few, no scrums, no line out, pure attack and defense work. All this takes place on sand, so injuries are close to nil. Fast guys are slower, big guys have less power…
That is for your practice, now, you add in that Macau Beach Rugby will celebrate its 10th anniversary, that Samba dancers will fire up the beach, that beer will be cheap, that there is 8 mens teams and 4 womens team, that it is on the beach… Men, I don’t know what more you need to come over here.
May be you need to be reminded of the last few years Shenzhen results:
- 2009 Plate winner
- 2008 Cup Winner
- 2007 Cup runner up
- 2006 Plate Winner
You have a name here, and we expect the Shenzhen boys to defend it!
