Observatory opened for astronomical enthusiasts
It took six years to built and occupies an area of 29,000 square meters, the Shenzhen Xichong Astronomical Observatory finally opened last Friday to conduct astronomical and weather conditions. The 62 million yuan project started trial operations on August 5.
The observatory is equipped with telescopes for planetary and celestial observations outside the solar system. The observatory is different from other observatories such as the Beijing Observatory, which is under the Chinese Academy of Science Administration. And only used for research. The Shenzhen observatory will play a major role in promoting science and conducting scientific research.
Authorized astronomical enthusiasts can access and control the telescopes at home through the observatory’s Web site.
