Best Deal on a TV in Shenzhen

About 3 years ago I managed to get what I thought was a great deal on my first LCD TV in Shenzhen. There was a cafe closing down in Coco Park and I managed to score a 42 inch for 2000rmb.

Well nearly 3 years later I decided it was a good time to upgrade, afterall, Forza 3 had better graphics so I needed a better TV!

I hunted and hunted, did Gome, Sundan, Sunning, Metro and finally Carrefour in Central walk, Futian.

Wow was I suprised!!!!  I managed to pick up a Changhong 50 inch FULL HD for……….

Ready……..

4999rmb…..YES THATS RIGHT only 4999RMB!

Now I got it home set it up and it is fantastic. USB ports, HDMI ports, VGA ports and more more more. There are so many ports it’s amazing.

So get yourself to Carrefour and buy one before they sell out!!

  1. David,

I use this tv for both work and pleasure, i have my pc connected to it often.

Everything is in english, but the controller is in chinese.

i have not had any issues and it is working very well still.

  2. Thanks for sharing the experience!! Quite useful!

Have you done any brand comparisons and/or found a good resource for comparing products? I’m hesitant with domestic brands when it comes to electronics as they’re isn’t a reliable source such as consumer reports for me to do a wholistic comparison of features, quality, reliability, user experience and relative advantages/disadvantages. I’ll usually use something like consumer reports in conjunction with my own research into the technical aspects of an electronic product before committing myself to buy – then again I’m very picky about my movie viewing experience just ask my overpriced Bose speakers :)

Have you had any issues with Changhong or domestic brands of high/cutting end/edge electronic products before?
