Train tickets to be bought online
The Ministry of Railways is planning to implement an online ticketing system with cooperation with domestic banks, and trials will be conducted on high speed train routes. Details of the systems is a little sketchy since the Ministry didn’t emphasize on how many tickets would be allocated for the online booking and whether it would be done on an identity based system.
Passengers who never used the internet are worried that tickets will be bought faster by those who use the internet, because the new system is faster than purchasing tickets by phone or in ticketing offices. One passenger lamented that he doesn’t know how to use the internet and he usually gets up early to queue for tickets in the railway offices, if tickets are booked by internet users faster it will be harder for him to buy tickets at the station.
Train booking agencies will get a commission of 5 yuan for every ticket that is booked online, and the ministry haven’t decided yet if they would increase the prices of the tickets that are bought online.
