Shenzhen to host 8th World University Archery Championship

Shenzhen to host 8th World University Archery ChampionshipShenzhen will be hosting the 8th World University Archery Championship at the Shenzhen stadium on September 23 to 26, 2010.

Athletes from 26 countries and regions will be participating including some master players from countries such as South Korea, Japan and the United States. The Chinese university team consists of nine archery athletes and coaches from Shenzhen university.

The championship is sponsored by the International University Sports Federation and organized by Federation University Sports of China, China Archery association, Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Organizing Committee for the 26th Summer Universiade.

Last September 13, 26 delegations and over 190 people have already enrolled for participation in the archery competition.

According to the regulation of the International University Sports Federation, all competitors must satisfy the following requirements:

a. Must be a national of the country/region they represent;
b. Must be at the age of at least 17 and less than 28;
c. Must be an officially registered student or one pursuing a full-time course of study at a university or students who have obtained their academic degree or diploma from an institution recognized by appropriate academic authority of their country/region in the year preceding the Championship.
