New Metro line cuts travel time by an hour
After the new line was opened last Saturday, travel time for passengers taking the Wuhan-Guangzhou High speed railway was cut by an hour. The Metro line connects Guangzhou railway station and Guangzhou South railway station, and the North railway station is being used for the Wuhan-Guangzhou high speed railway.
It only takes about two hours by Metro from Shenzhen railway station to Guangzhou south using the new line. The trip before usually takes about three hours with passengers having to take the bus or taxi to reach Guangzhou South if they came into Guangzhou East Station first. Travel time sometimes reached 4 hours if travelers got caught in traffics jam between stations.
Eighty trains run the route every day with an interval of 15 minutes, reaching speeds of 350 kilometers per hour. The 1,068 kilometer Wuhan Guangzhou High speed railway shortens the travel time from Wuhan and Guangzhou to three hours from the previous travel time of 10 hours.
