family physicians assigned to 20 health clinics
Local residents now can stop envying expats who can call up their family Physicians if they need to or when they feel unwell. A pilot program was established in 22 community clinics across the city, that will provide family physicians to nearby residents.
40 physicians were required to have medium level qualifications in clinical medicine or traditional Chinese medicine, and needs to pass a special jury to be able to get certificates for their new obligation. The pilot program set guidelines given by the city health care authorities, and they hope to gradually roll out a family physician program that citizens can enjoy in their local communities.
The service is offered to those living in Huanggang and other 20 communities. Public health services like regular physicals for babies under three years of age and check up for pregnant women are free. Physicians can refer patients that are suffering with chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension to other family physicians, since the clinics are short staffed patients can request home visits in emergency cases or make reservations to attend local clinics.
