Parades to mark 60th anniversary of New China
A grand military parade, colorful fireworks display, and massive pageant will take place in the Tian’anmen Square to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China. CCTV will be broadcasting the 16 hour event live to the whole world in different languages. President Hu Jintao will launch the celebrations together with 180,000 participants, and the same time deliver a keynote speech and inspect a military parade.
5,000 soldiers will be marching past nation’s leaders, the soldiers will be grouped according to height, with variations of no more than six centimeters. Soldiers will be marching at a pace of 116 steps a minute an each column one minute and six seconds to march past the nation’s leaders sitting in the main podium. Tanks and vehicles with missiles, communications and other military equipment will follow after the soldiers, and 150 planes will be flying in formation trailing colored vapors.
The parade will demonstrate China’s weaponry is just as sophisticate as of developed nations since most of the hardware is already being manufactured in China. Following the military parade will be the parade of civilians in which 100,000 Chinese citizens and 80,000 students from primary and middle school will be taking part.
Spectators and TV viewers will be treated to a three dimensional fireworks lasting for more than half an hour is a first in China, and will be using twice the amount of fireworks that was used in the opening ceremony in the 2008 Beijing Olympic games.
