ELDERS Invests in New Shanghai Operations to Meet Growing China Demand

ELDERS Invests in New Shanghai Operations to Meet Growing China DemandElders is growing its China operations to meet continuing strong demand across its product portfolio of premium meat, seafood, wines and beer.

Group GM of Trading Tony Dage said, Elders, through its Shanghai-based Elders Fine Foods Trading business, will consolidate its China operations into new custom-designed larger premises at JinQiao which is expected to become operational in October 2010.

Elders, which is already a significant importer into China for Australian and New Zealand wool, dairy cattle and some grains, has grown the food services business of Elders Fine Foods to become a major importer and distributor around Shanghai, Beijing and throughout wider China.

“This is a significant milestone for Elders Fine Foods and represents an unequivocal demonstration of Elders’ further commitment to China,” Mr Dage said.

“Our new one-acre facility is more than twice the size of its current location and positions us well for the opportunities we see continuing to emerge across the Chinese marketplace as large scale urbanization continues and consumer wealth rises, leading to increased affordability of premium quality product with a strong emphasis on product with Australian and New Zealand origin,” he said.
