Graduates finding jobs as tutors
Faced with a tight job market, many of Shenzhen college graduates chose a career in full time tutoring, and if their lucky enough they can earn a decent salary. Four graduates that studied in prestigious universities were competing for a full time tutoring position with a yearly salary of 100,000 yuan.
The tutoring job was for a factory owner who was looking for a male tutor for his son who is a second year middle school students. The tutoring position was advertised online stated that the father was looking for graduates of prominent universities and have skills in effective learning and teaching methods. Once hired the tutor is expected to live with the family. In addition to teaching and tutoring the child, the tutor is also required to accompany the child to school and to also pick him up after classes. Monthly salary will be 7,000 yuan and will increase if the child will perform well in school and if the tutor will help the child to become one of the top 40 students.
More college graduates are now becoming full time tutors and wages for this type of work is also rising, since the Ministry of Education ban schools from giving extra classes this fueled the tutoring business. Wages for tutors can go as high as 200 yuan per hour or higher depending on the type of tutoring required.
