Foreign teachers helping students with their English studies
130 American teachers will begin teaching in Shenzhen Schools this year. this is the largest number foreign teachers employed by the city education bureau since 1998. The teachers will help create an English learning environment and enhance English speaking and communication skills.
The teachers were recruited through the Center for Teaching and Learning in China programs that will teach oral English to at least 80 public primary and middle schools. The teachers are required to have bachelor’s degree with more than two years experience in related fields and have Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificates. Aside from teaching, teachers are also asked to help local English teachers in preparing teaching plans to enhance quality of English teaching and to coach students participating in English competitions.
Introducing foreign teachers in schools increases student interest in learning the English language that will help them improve communications skills with foreigners. The progress made by introducing foreign teachers is significant, they have been a great help in enhancing the students English levels.
