New checkpoints included in five year program
Shenzhen is planning to put up six new checkpoints to enhance cooperation with Hong Kong. According to an inspection team lead by lawmakers and headed by the deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress.
The six checkpoints are part of Shenzhen’s 12th five year program, and the new checkpoints will be placed at Liantang, Longhua Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong passenger railway, Nan’ao Tourism, Shekou Cruise Home port and Qianhai Bay. No schedules were released yet on when the new checkpoints will be constructed. The Longhua Railway will be the largest checkpoint since it would be a transport hub for the Biejing Hong Kong Railway. The new checkpoint will benefit those who are taking the high speed trains traveling to Hong Kong.
The 12th five year program will iclude the renovation of the Wenjindu Checkpoint to increase passenger capacity to 30,000, Huanggang Checkpoint will be upgraded to handle 300,000 and 20,000 vehicles.
