English Corner Established in Preparation for UNESCO Conference

A once-a-week English session designed to prepare the staff for the UNESCO Creative Cities Conference in Shenzhen on Dec. 6-9, 2010 has been set.

The Shenzhen Press Group and Shenzhen Creative Culture Center, one of the executive bodies of the UNESCO conference, established an English corner and formed a talent pool composed of staff members who have studied or worked overseas.

Each session will feature a key topic and a moderator. The focal point of the topics will be mainly about how to introduce Shenzhen to overseas visitors and how to make Shenzhen more well-known all over the world. There will be a presentation by one or two of the participants which will be followed by opinions and discussions. The participants will be allowed to speak only in English.

Two English corner sessions have already been done so far. Four African painters visiting Shenzhen for the first time were invited to talk during the second session. They talked about their impressions of Shenzhen and gave suggestions on how to improve and develop the city’s design and art community.
