Shenzhen handled 4 million border crossing during National Day Holidays
4.7 million tourists or a daily average of 520,000 people crossed the Shenzhen checkpoints during the eight day National Day Holidays. This is according to Shenzhen General Station of Entry and Exit Frontier Inspection. Travel peak around October 4 when 420,000 people crossed the border coming in, and 220,000 people traveled out.
Huanggang Checkpoint saw 650,000 border crossings from October 1 to 7, and Futian Checkpoint had 550,000 crossings. Peak travels from both Checkpoints was on October 7 when they saw around 60,000 crossings, mostly from tourists and travelers returning from Hong Kong, Macau and other Southeast Asian Countries. Checkpoints handles travel peaks by adding temporary inspection channels and waiting channels.
There was a decrease in long distance travel tours to European and American countries, while trips to Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, South Korea and other Asian Countries became very popular.
