Man collected 15,000 newpapers in 20 years
Lu Hanwang have amassed over 15,000 newspapers over the past 20 years, around 2,500 newspapers are special issues, trial editions, launch issues or final issues. 500 of the newspapers were made by a publishing house in Shenzhen and 160 of those were special edition issues.
The oldest newspaper in his collection is an issue of the Bao’an news which is dated june 1957 that he bought at a collector’s market over ten years ago. This kind of newspaper have limited issues since the paper stop its production in 1962 and was renamed Bao’an Farmers Newspaper when publication resumed. That paper is now on display at the Shenzhen Museum.
Lu even have the first issues of the four top newspapers in Shenzhen namely the Shenzhen Press Group, Shenzhen Economic Daily, the Daily Sunshine and Shenzhen Evening News. He even bought every newspaper that reported any major events that happened in the city.
He started collecting papers during his college days and he started with his college newspaper then collected more after he finished his studies. Lu even held an exhibit of his collection in 2002. Lu plans to collect newspapers and compile a book that will tell the history of newspapers in Shenzhen.
