NSW Meeting: “Feeding and Energizing the World”
NSW Minister for Primary Industries the Hon. Steve Whan and the Department’s Deputy Director-General, Mr George Davies, have been in Shanghai this week along with champions from the agriculture, mining and wine industries of NSW, to showcase the State’s primary industries sector and potential export and investment opportunities.
The theme for the NSW Government’s Primary Industries Day at the Australian pavilion on Tuesday 12 October was ‘Feeding and Energizing the World’ to highlight the State’s important contribution to global agricultural and resource production.
During the business breakfast hosted by AustCham Shanghai, Minister Whan acknowledged each of the industry representatives who gave a brief on their respective objectives. He also addressed the current opportunities for Chinese investment in NSW’s primary industries and specifically the agriculture sector’s prospective for a huge return to NSW growers and producers.
Minister Whan said his visit follows on from the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the largest food company in eastern China, the Bright Foods Group and the Premier on behalf of NSW Government earlier in the year.
