Shenzhen claimed top spot as the most innovative city
Following a ranking by Forbes China, Shenzhen was ranked as the most innovative city followed by Shanghai, Suzhou and Jiangzhou Province, Shenzhen claimed the top spot after a survey of the 132 cities was conducted.
Shenzhen had a GDP of more than 360 billion yuan last year. In 2009 Shenzhen expenditure in scientific research amounted to almost 30 billion yuan, an increase of 13 percent compared with last year’s numbers. This ratio allowed Shenzhen to surpass other countries in scientific research and the number of high tech enterprises acknowledged by the city government already reached 3,000.
Venture capital organizations have attracted residents and have received 60 billion yuan in invests in new technology programs and enterprises. Shenzhen also took the top spot in patent applications and approvals.
