Jobless makes money pushing stranded cars
Jobless people found a way to make easy money, just by pushing stranded cars out of flood waters pooled in a pedestrian tunnel after heavy rains. The exit of Tongle Station in the Guangzhou Shenzhen Expressway usually gets flooded after heavy rains.
People tend to stand on the exit to wait for cards to be stranded or break down, then they demand fees from the drivers just to help them push their cars out of the flood waters. The tunnel connects Dabao Road and Gaoxinqi Industrial zone and water have remained in the tunnel for six months now even after the rain had already stop. People using the tunnel have to pull their pants up and residents said that the water was up to chest deep during the heavy rains last June.
One businessman said he had to pay 1,100 yuan just to have his car pushed out of the flood waters after he got stuck. One resident states that most of the people pushing stranded cars out of the water are either unemployed or those whose business are illegal electric bike services.
