Shenzhen firm claims use rights for the iPad
A Shenzhen firm is planning to sues Apple Inc. for 10 billion yuan, claiming that the company own the use right for the iPad. Proview International Holding Ltd, show that Proview Taipei had registered the iPad computer trademark in Europe in the year 2000.
Then in June and December 201 Proview Shenzhen holding a 100 percent stake registered the iPad trademark for two items in China. The Taipei company produced iPad branded computers but was not recognized by the market. Apple Inc. then bought the global use rights for the iPad trademark from the Taipei company, but the Shenzhen company still own the use rights of the trademark in China. The listed company is now facing a debt crisis and their assets were frozen as well as the iPad trademark by eight banks including Bank of China.
The iPad is a tablet computer marketed as a platform for audio and visual media suuch as books, periodicals, movies, music, and games as well as web content. The tablet computer is about 700 grams and its size and weight are between most contemporary smart phones and laptops found in the market.
