Lucky 8 Millionth Visitor to Australian Pavilion Off to Uluru
The Australian pavilion at the Shanghai Expo smashed yet another record when it welcomed the eight millionth visitor through the doors. Ms Li Zhi Lin of Hebei found it hard to believe she’d won a trip to Sydney, Melbourne and Uluru, sponsored by Qantas and Tourism Australia.
The Australian pavilion’s achievements over Expo are impressive with over 15,800 VIP visitors taking part in over 220 targeted events showcasing Australian culture, innovation and capability over the 184 days of Expo. Australia’s award winning iconic pavilion has consistently ranked among the top five pavilions. The cultural program, comprising 700 performers from a range of genres, demonstrated the depth and diversity of the Australian cultural landscape.
There have been over 10,000 shows in the ANZ theatre, over 700 performances by resident aerialists, Airbourne, and around 1,000 hours of performances by the Sand Bar Band. The pavilion has sold over 42,000 Aussie Beef pies, 114,000 serves of ice cream and over 108,000 pots of Australian lanolin.
