Solar water heating systems to be installed in residential buildings
On December 1 Shenzhen government will require all new residential and government subsidized buildings to install solar water heating systems. For each square meter of solar panel installed in the new buildings with 12 floors or more the government will 225 yuan per panel.
Funding will only apply to new buildings without solar systems included in the plans, other government funded projects that has solar systems included in their budget will not get any more funding. Since Shenzhen is one of the first city to develop energy conserving architecture the Central Government then required to apply all energy saving technology to all buildings by next year. Shenzhen will be installing solar water heating systems to at least 7 million squares meters of residential buildings, additional energy saving systems will also be installed such as solar powered air conditioner, seawater source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps.
The Central Government will be penalizing any developers that will not install solar systems in their plans, the government will a supervise the construction process of the energy saving buildings.
