Shenzhen to develop a five year transport blueprint
Shenzhen have unveiled a draft to develop a five year transport development blueprint for the year 2011-2015 is seeking public opinion, on whether to built more expressways would be built to link downtown with Bao’an and Longgang district.
By 2009 the length of Shenzhen expressways reached 387 kilometers and vehicles on the road topped at 1.61 million. Roads going to Meilin, Buji, Nantou and Xincheng will be upgraded. By 2015 travel time to and from Shenzhen to Xiamen will be cut down to three hours when the high speed rail network will be finished. Travel time from Shenzhen to Wuhan will be reduced to five hours.
Shenzhen North Railway Station and Futian Station along the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong railway will be finished in five years. The Metro would then be extended to cover 226 more kilometers on six Metro lines by 2015.
