Minibuses launched to combat illegal vehicles
To combat the vehicles operating as illegal taxis, city transport authorities plans to put into service 11 seater mini buses on a trial basis. The minibuses are fast transport that covers a smaller area.
Illegal buses services with 10 seats are popular in Longgang and Bao’an district were people choose the type of transport because they are fast and saves time. This prompted the transport authority to launch minibuses. These minibuses are measures taken by the authorities to diversify public transport meeting public demand and curb illegal transportation operators. Express buses with flexible routes were put to service attracting many passengers, although different from regular buses that have designated routes, express buses have fixed destinations letting drivers chose roads with less traffic thus reaching places faster. Authorities hopes that this types of buses services will serve the passengers needs and discourages illegal operations.
Illegal taxis and buses are rampant in the Longgang and Bao’an districts, ruining the livelihood of green taxi drivers who claims that drivers of illegal vehicles charges less that why they attract more customers. Green taxi drivers earns around 2,000 yuan a month and illegal drivers earns around 3,000 yuan or more.
